Growing a Likable Social Media Presence
By Stephanie Cuba | March 31, 2021
In this day and age, a media presence is as important as any other skill in your resume. Everyone is expected to know how to navigate through all social media apps. These apps are always growing with new ones always on the rise, such as Tik Tok. With these new platforms, it just becomes another format to get your name out there. Though, a simple basis of understanding social media can help you float around, and if you want to make waves then you must make your pages worth clicking the follow button.
This pandemic shut us down in our homes and kept us depending on the internet for entertainment, work, school, and any basic necessity which only highlighted the importance of establishing a presence on the internet. If people wanted to continue their life during the quarantine, then they had to strengthen their online presence while growing in population to receive more interaction.
When you open an account on any social media, there is the decision of how you want your page to be perceived and what type of information will be shared. Identify the goals and objectives for your account and what you plan to post, and by having this established then the desired audience will start following. Before you begin posting pointless posts like a maniac every single day, this isn’t the way to grow your interaction. While posting every day will help, you must make sure that it’s information that your followers will appreciate and resonate with, so it keeps them coming. The posts themselves should be informational, while also being heartfelt. The followers don’t want just another bot to follow but want to see your human side with countless emotions, so it can be relatable to them.
There are tons of social media apps available out there, so don’t just stick to one. Try and experiment with all of them to see what type of reactions you like the most for your content to have as a primary app. While comfortability can come from one certain app, having multiple outlets helps reach even more people.
Once your idea is established and post ideas are planned out, then you can start posting to welcome your new audience. Try to post regularly, make valuable content, create fun ways to interact with followers, use hashtags, and give them a reason to click that follow button. Don’t worry, this isn’t something to stress about, it may seem like a lot, but the ultimate goal is just to give you a space to be yourself and have fun.
