Trump in Public Relations: Who Allows Him To Tweet?
Nov. 3, 2019 | Witten By: Ashley Morales
When looking at the recent news about President Trump’s possible impeachment, one of the first things that I did and I assume many other people also did was check his Twitter. Twitter is something that the president has been using since 2009 and if you are a frequent user of Twitter then it almost impossible to avoid one of the many tweets that Trump has posted. When looking at his tweets it is very clear that he says whatever is on his mind and has no real filter. Because of this reason, I ask myself, “How does his PR team allow him to tweet the things he does?”
In recent events with the talk about his impeachment, Trump has tweeted things such as, “There has been no president in the history of our Country who has been treated so badly as I have. The Democrats are frozen with hatred and fear. They get nothing done. This should never be allowed to happen to another president. Witch Hunt!” This tweet became viral due to his choice of words when he said that no other president has been treated as badly as he has. People, such as twitter user @emigre80, mention how past presidents such as Lincoln and Kennedy were assassinated which to them is worse treatment than what Trump is facing right now. Tweets like that make me wonder if his PR team is even allowed to have any control of his Twitter. Not only do tweets like that affect how people view the president, but it also affects how other people around the world who use Twitter view America as a whole. Twitter is a huge social media platform that is used by millions of people so for Trump’s PR team to not be able to have a say in what he can and can not tweet or post and allowing him to talk badly about others such as democrats like when calls them, “Do nothing democrat savages,” is very questionable when looking at public relations in politics.
